DS3251

Stood-up Drop dosing unit for quick and easy receding contact angle measurements

  • Bookmark

The receding contact angle describes the dewetting behavior of a liquid on a solid. Despite the high information value for technical dewetting processes, this contact angle has rarely been measured to date, especially in quality control, due to the increased time required. This is now changing with the Stood-up Drop® of the DS3251 dosing unit.

The unit jets a drop of water onto the sample with high dynamics, where it first spreads out and then very quickly contracts to form a defined drop. The recently receded contact angle (RRCA) measured on this Stood-up Drop in a matter of seconds accurately reflects dewetting and correlates with many process and QC parameters, such as surface activation. The defined dosing distance and the constant, non-influenceable dynamics ensure user-independent results.

DS3251 is mounted in a few simple steps, can be combined with other dosing units, e.g. the Liquid Needle, and for DSA30/DSA100 is also compatible with the Dosing Hub for fully automatic changing, positioning, and dosing processes. The Stood-up Drop method uses a specially developed workspace in the ADVANCE software. The disposable cartridges used for measuring with pure water can be filled quickly and easily and last for up to 2,000 contact angle measurements.

In addition to the dosing unit, the following components are included in the scope of delivery:

  • 10 cartridges for water with Luer-Lock connection
  • 10 disposable syringes (1 mL) with Luer connection
  • 10 Luer-Lock adapters
  • One clear glass bottle (25 mL)
  • Tool for easy removal of the cartridge from the dosing unit
  • Cleaning set for the dosing valve
